Award season 2018 kicks off with the 75th Golden Globe awards, along with prestigious recognitions, comes this season’s ultimate list of must watch movies.

The nominated movies is listed below in order of screening in South Africa, so be sure to mark it on your calendar; those without screen dates have been listed in alphabetical order.

However, I cannot blog about the 2018 award season, without the mention of the “Wear Black” movement, adopted by celebrities who will be using the glitz and glamour of the red carpet for a rather important message against women abuse and fundamental rights in society by wearing black at this years Golden Globes in support of this message using the hashtag #TimesUp.

2017 saw the rise of the woman’s voice in solidarity, which resulted in the demise of Harvey Weinstein and other once powerful men of Hollywood. No doubt 2017 was the year of the breakout for women, with the likes of #MeToo, #AintNoCinderella, #MenAreTrash and #NotInMyName – trending. This year’s fashion will not just make a glamorous statement on the red – carpet, but rather a powerful message is being carried forward into 2018 on one of the most influential events of the year.
