Known for it’s multitude of pros, the LA Girl Cosmetics – LA Girl Pro Coverage HD Illuminating Foundation, is popular with bloggers worldwide, so naturally I needed try this top rated, budget friendly foundation and here is what I found:

Uses:
- Provides medium to full coverage
- Long wearing
Key Ingredients:
The LA Girl Pro Coverage Foundation is a water – based foundation and therefore needs to be used with a water-based primer. I use the Smashbox photo finish primer water, which is both a primer and setting spray.
Effectiveness:
The LA Girl HD Foundation is long wearing and lasts up to six hours before it becomes oily, additionally, the application of this foundation is dewy and easy to blend; it does not cake and accentuate wrinkles; it also does not oxidize, which is especially important for skin with yellow undertones.
Moreover, the finish feels silky and is not heavy; product build up is required for effective coverage.
La Girl Foundation shades come in a variety of warm and cool undertones – my color match is GLM645 – Nude Beige. There is also a LA Girl white foundation available in this range for you to lighten LA Girl Foundation shades that are too dark.
The color match isn’t perfect for my yellow undertone, as most foundations, it looks too brown when applied, however it’s still a good enough match, even better than some high – end foundations in terms of color match.
Price:
R175 – 00
Where To Buy LA Girl Foundation:
Available at DisChem pharmacies nationwide.
Warnings:
It’s Essential to use a water-based primer and not a silicone-based primer with this type of foundation, as using the incorrect primer will result in the foundation caking.
Ensure that you remove the foundation properly after use, as the ingredients are non comedogenic.

Pros:

- 6 hours wear
- Silky finish
- LA Girl products are not tested on animals
- LA Girl Pro Foundation shades have a wide range for yellow or warm undertones
- Does not oxidize
- Budget friendly
- Easy to blend
- Does not cake
Cons:
- The formula is not non-comedogenic meaning that it has ingredients that can cause clogged pores resulting in breakouts.
- Not a perfect color match for yellow skin tones
Summary:
I was in search of a foundation dupe to my normal MAC NC25 Studio Fix Foundation – as I was going through it too quickly and needed something for everyday that was budget friendly and this is the perfect fit.
This particular LA Girl Pro Coverage foundation has been a blogger favourite for a while now, and I’m thrilled that I finally tried. It may not be that ultimate illuminating golden hue that MAC or Esteé Lauder provides, but at least my complexion isn’t dull, it still has it’s yellow undertone furthermore, a huge trump is that LA Girl cosmetics are not tested on animals.
