This week’s foundation series blog post is everything you need to know about the Estée Lauder Double Wear – Stay In Place Makeup – SPF 10 liquid foundation review.
I’ve been meaning to try the Estée Lauder Double Wear liquid foundation for the longest time, especially since makeup enthusiasts swear by this foundation being the “holly grail” of foundations and is a top rated foundation in South Africa for a high-end foundation.
Finally, I tested a sample in the color 3W2 – cashew, here is my Estée Lauder double wear foundation review.
- Provides medium to full coverage that is buildable
- A matte finish that isn’t drying
- 24 hour wear, stay in place makeup
A lightweight water – based, foundation which requires a water-based primer such as the Smashbox photo finish primer water, which is both a primer and setting spray, which is my staple primer.
To set my foundation, I use the Kryolan translucent powder, which is effective for my combination skin type.
This formula is oil and fragrance free, additionally it’s non-comedogenic – meaning that it does not have ingredients that can cause clogged pores resulting in breakouts.
From all the foundations I’ve reviewed, this is by far my favourite as it ticks all the boxes for me.
Additionally to its full coverage I loved that I didn’t need to add concealer to my blemishes, a little more product solved this problem.
A tiny sample container lasted about five full applications, so even though this is an expensive foundation, a little product is required even for full coverage.
The color match is perfect; I didn’t need to apply a shade lighter as the formula didn’t oxidize. Estée Lauder Double Wear 3W2 – Cashew matched my skin tone and undertone perfectly and my color stayed the same throughout the day without dulling.
There are 55 Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation shades to choose from in every undertone and skin tone, so you are likely to find your perfect color match. Usually, I always never find a perfect shade match for foundations, as there never seems to be one that matches my yellow skin and if it does, it starts to oxidize. I’m so glad that Estée Lauder took all skin tones into consideration when developing this color range.
The foundation did in fact stay in place all day without moving, however, my forehead did begin to get slightly oily after four hours, however, a light touch up with blotting paper fixed this problem for another four hours.
On the contrary, to most matte foundation the double wear light foundation feels natural and breathable. Even though it’s a matte texture, the liquid settles on your skin for a flawless finish that doesn’t look dry but rather dewy.
Additionally, this foundation has an SPF,though it’s not a greasy formula.
30ml retails for R600 – 00
The Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation pump is also available for purchase at an additional R50 – 00

Splurge on this Estée Lauder liquid foundation – it’s worth all the hype and its no wonder why it’s the highest rated foundation from the Estée Lauder range.
As it’s a high end foundation, I use this for special occasions additionally, I don’t need to worry about my makeup “working – out” for that day as certain foundations react differently to your skin depending on weather and other factors. I used the Estée Lauder 24 hour foundation in humid and dry climates and my skin looked flawless in both instances.
This foundation is perfect if you find it difficult to find your color match with other brands and if you are looking for all day wear.
As a result of finding my perfect foundation, I’ve come to a conclusion for the foundation series for now.
Consider my first seven foundation reviews as part one.
