Drugstore Cosmetic Brand Review: Makeup Revolution

The third installment for my weekly series of drugstore brand reviews is all the information you require about Makeup Revolution, exclusively available at Clicks in South Africa.

Makeup Revolution Review

Result driven, affordability and relevant makeup is the core of this British makeup brand.
Launched last year in South Africa, Makeup Revolution quickly took center stage in the drugstore makeup collection, offering an array of products, including limited edition ranges.

Here is a list of the best makeup revolution products:

Makeup Revolution Blush Palette

A multifunctional item that is also a popular choice is the blush, bronze and highlight palette; these attractive, high shimmer palettes initialize as cream powders and are literally baked to produce a powdered end product.
Currently retails for R62 – 00

Revolution makeup has a wide selection of eyeshadow palettes to choose from additionally, the pigments range the color spectrum and have perfect pigmentation with staying power, add to this an eyeshadow primer and your makeup of the day is amplified for that big event. Read below to find out what revolution eyeshadow palette I’m enjoying at the moment.

Other firm favorites include the Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Foundation, the revolution liquid highlighter and the Revolution brow pomade, which is said to be the dupe for the ever-popular Anastasia Beverly Hills pomade.

Thrilled that all the drugstore makeup brands I’ve blogged about thus far for this series are cruelty free, with Makeup Revolution being an addition to the cruelty free family, this ever re-innovating brand keeps the excitement of makeup going.

Makeup Revolution is the ultimate brand if:

  • You are a makeup artist
  • On a budget
  • Enjoy experimenting with makeup trends

The pretty packaging of some of the eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks are a bonus.

My Recommendations:

Here is my mini review of my Makeup Revolution favorites:

  • Banana Powder R134 – 00

This powder may not have staying powder and requires touch ups, however it’s got coverage and a perfect color match for yellow skin tones, like myself – I love using this product for those “at home” makeup days or when I’m out and about for a bit.

  • Makeup Revolution Soph X Eyeshadow Palette

I often reach for this eyeshadow palette, even for night looks and big events – the feel of the shadows are moist and not chalky, with high pigmentation.

  • Affordable
  • Highly pigmented eyeshadow palettes
  • Cruelty free

  • Whilst the lipsticks look beautiful, a packaging dupe for Charlotte Tilbury, the formula was runny and felt tacky.
  • I found the color correcting palettes offer weak coverage.

Overall, Makeup Revolution is my go to for eyeshadow palettes, you could never have too many from this range. I also enjoy using other products like the Makeup Revolution foundation stick and face powders on a regular day for light makeup.
