Building a basic wardrobe and having something to wear for every occasion is much easier than you think and no, your closet doesn’t need to be lavish in size or cost. The benefits of having staple pieces of clothing, will automatically have you dressing better and enjoying the process. Shopping will also be easier and you will find that once the essentials are ticked off, you can now indulge in those edgier or pricier outfits and have fun with fashion without wasting money on clothing you think you need but you really don’t.
After writing my blog post, I inspired myself to sift through my tops, organize, throw out and resell options I grew bored of. Since this clean out, shopping has been even more enjoyable than it already was, who knew! And slowly, my style is improving and I am enjoying the capsule closet essentials I currently have additionally I don’t spend time procrastinating about fashion choices.
Part 2 of 5: Building Your Basic Wardrobe – Bottoms
Jeans: The ultimate basics to have in your closet are jeans. I’m currently loving straight leg and slouch jeans. Add texture with distressed jeans (but keep it to a minimum) for everyday use or even evening use. Recommended colours: blue denim (light and dark), black and white. In 2022 corduroy jeans are in. Experiment with this trend in olive and brown.
Trousers: Another basic you need in your closet are trousers for office wear and evening wear. My ultimate fit is paper-bag trousers. Recommended colours: Black, cream, beige, blush, grey and mod or plaid style prints. Joggers: The Covid pandemic saw joggers become the wardrobe foundation for us all, which has now become a trendy must have streetwear staple. Recommended colours: grey, black, beige and olive.
Cargo pants: This pant style isn’t essential, should you be into streetwear or are feeling experimental opt in. Recommended colours: cargo, olive and army print.
Cycle tights: Cycle shorts have become staple closet pieces and pairs perfectly with longer, baggy tops. Recommended colours: Black, grey, beige.
Leggings: Leggings are a must have fashion item paired with a t- shirt with layered necklaces for a current appeal. Recommended colours: Black, grey and print.
Shorts: Shorts are a great option to pair T-shirts with during summer. Recommended colours: Black denim, white denim, light and dark denim. Other materials opt for beige, brown, blush, olive, grey and black.
Midi skirts: Midi skirts are statement – making wardrobe essentials. whenever I wear a midi – skirt I receive compliments. It’s lady like and stylish and suits a multitude of occasions. Recommended colours: black, white, olive, blush, beige and print options. Explore various materials, slit and roached types.
Miniskirts: Fashion weeks worldwide saw the comeback of the miniskirt for 2022. A few miniskirt options. Recommended colours: black, beige and blush. Experiment with leather and pleather options, suede and skater girl types for 2022.
Pencil Skirts: Pair with button downed silk blouses for a lady – like look or t-shirt for a casual outfit. Recommended colours: Black, blush and beige.
