Fenty Beauty Review

Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin has launched in South Africa and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
Thanks to Edgars Beauty and ARC – our much loved Fenty products are now easily accessible, no more hefty customs and ridiculous courier charges.

I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch of Fenty Beauty, in this blog I spill some Fenty Beauty secrets shared with us at an intimate masterclass with Hector Espinal @artbyhector – Rhianna’s makeup artist, including my thoughts on Fenty Beauty products and what Fenty products are worth the splurge.

Inclusivity and quality – that remains the main focus of Fenty Beauty – which includes over 40 foundation shades represented in their makeup line with attention to detail on quality and skin types.

Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter R770 – 00

Yes, Fenty Beauty highlighters is that girl that she thinks she is. The formula glides onto skin without patchiness or emphasizing texture, a superior highlighter formula which lasts all day. I particularly love the duos which were made for day / night wear – perfect for travelling with and applying just enough glow for daytime wear.
The highlighters currently retail for a slightly higher price in South Africa, than the pricing overseas (Sephora) – hopefully this will change in time.

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation R660 – 00

On account of my extremely dry skin, I was going to give the Fenty Beauty Foundation a pass because of its matte formula. Thankfully, I received a foundation in my press pack and the hype about this foundation is real! It’s not a drying matte on any account, but rather much different than what one would imagine a matte foundation to be. It’s suited to all skin types. I love the healthy look, feel and glow the Filt’r foundation gives my skin – and as it wears throughout the day, skin looks healthier, nourished and overall snatched – you need to experience this one for yourself – it’s an amazing product.
It does oxidize quite a bit – so whatever your shade match is, I would suggest opting for two shades lighter. Foundations oxidizing is a common problem which is also dependent on your skin type and how acidic your skin texture is – so don’t write off a foundation if it oxidizes.
Additionally, I love that I don’t need to set this foundation with a powder product if I’m not using my face mask for the day – it settles perfectly onto skin without powder.

The formula of each Fenty Beauty product (besides the snap shadow palette) is perfection. Formulations are of a high – end, superior quality. Everything from packaging, to formulas are well – thought of and therefore Fenty Beauty is a 360 brand for me, covering all the bases a beauty brand should.

Where To Purchase Fenty Beauty:

Fenty Beauty is available to purchase online and instore at Edgars Beauty and Arc
Fenty Beauty is also available at Takealot, however it’s at a much higher price point.

My Recommendations:

Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint R525 – 00

This Fenty Beauty lipstick is my favourite product from the brand – I have not stopped using these liquid lipsticks since I purchased them. I love what a liquid lipstick looks like when initially applied, but what is problematic is liquid formulas dry out lips as it wears, and become messy under a mask.
However welcome Lip Stunna to my lippie collection which is lightweight and can be reapplied throughout the day without drying out your lips.

Fenty Beauty Makeup Brushes from R650 – 00

Rihanna has a fascination with sharks and that is what inspired the design of her makeup brushes – the bronzer brush and highlighter brush in particular. The design is not a gimmick but such a perfectly shaped brush to hug the contours of your face. I would suggest picking up the foundation, bronzer and highlighter brushes – they are spectacular.

Fenty Beauty products are worth the hype and price tag, I love what the brand stands for, it’s representation and commitment to deliver top notch formulations.

Not all the Fenty Beauty makeup products are available in South Africa yet – like the Sun Stalk’r Face and Eye Palette which is said to be a step up from her snap palette and of course the price points for some products don’t match the international pricing.

Some Insider Information:

Fenty Beauty is currently launching their summer range which can be viewed on their Instagram page. Something else to look forward to is a uniquely designed makeup sponge and a full line of products eventually from Fenty Beauty. At the masterclass @artbyhector explained that Rihanna isn’t about trends when it comes to her products and that they are constantly working on formulas and will only launch when they are 100% satisfied with the entire design and delivery of each product.

Fenty Beauty Bronzer R690 – 00:

My Favourite step of makeup is applying bronzer – and since I’ve been impressed over by all the Fenty Beauty products I’ve tried moreover the positive reviews on the Fenty Beauty bronzers – I’m sold.

Diamond Bomb & Trophy Wife Highlighter from R770 – 00

I’m hoping that the pricing of the highlighters will be adjusted. I want to add Diamond Bomb and Trophy Wife to my collection. I was not too keen on purchasing Trophy Wife because I don’t like how gold or bronze type highlighters look on my skin, but Trophy Wife hits different, each time I tested it, it looked beautiful on my skin colour and I received a multitude of compliments.

I’ll be sharing my thoughts and honest reviews on each product on my TikTok and Instagram accounts throughout the year. I’m looking forward to experiencing Fenty Beauty product launches at the same time as the rest of the world and I already see myself repurchasing so many staple items for my daily makeup routine.
