Sheena D began her journey into acting from a young age, excelling at extra-mural activities such as Speech and Drama, piano, Spanish and Indian dance. Sheena was destined to be a performer.
During her studies in Durban, she joined a local modeling agency and soon became a popular model gracing the covers of local newspapers for regular fashion spreads. She then moved to Johannesburg to start her career in acting, professionally, whilst still studying performing arts and film.
During this time she was selected as FHM top 20, a selection from thousands of entries and it was her first time participating in this competition. She also enjoyed being part of the Miss South African finalists but chose to drop out as she got a role on Scandal! – a popular soapie on ETV. Once her role came to an end on Scandal she went on to become head cheerleader for The Indian Premier League in India where she resided for the duration of the tournament. Upon her arrival in South Africa she booked numerous commercials and a role in Jacobs Cross. She then went on to booking a role on South Africa’s biggest soapie – Generations, where she played Tammy for the year of 2014; she also had guest roles on Zabalaza and Wired along with many more commercials, including: Standard bank, Outsurance, Tropika, Argan Oil, KFC & Absa Bank to mention a few.
She was also named as the Face of Placecol.
Sheena D soon became interested in producing work in South Africa aimed at attracting the pop culture generation and thus, founded her own production company. She produced Elite TV: an entertainment show, showcasing South African celebrities which was selected as one of the productions by Endemol – one of South Africa’s leading production houses, to be part of the enterprise development program and produced various commercials for Oglivy South Africa. During 2016 Sheena co – produced and starred in: Wander-Lust TV: A scripted reality travel show. Late in 2016, Sheena D moved to Saint Petersburg, Russia to concentrate on completing her screenplay for “Void” – a feature film to be filmed and cast in South Africa later in 2018.
She also began a blog – Pot of Gold concerned with quality lifestyle content including elements of fashion, travel and her take on philosophy.
In 2012 Sheena D received the Legends Award for her contribution to the entertainment industry.
