Are You Cleansing Your Face Correctly? The Ultimate Guide To Cleanse Your Face For Glowing Skin

Cleansing your face is the basis for flawless skin, something I overlooked since I had dry skin.
Turns out, as a result of not cleansing and exfoliating my skin correctly or enough, I had superficial layers of dead skin cells blocking my skin renewal process resulting in a significantly reduced cell turnover and yes, my skin was dull and dry.

Now that I’ve corrected my cleansing routine, my skin looks and feels healthier and I’ve finally exited my dry skin era and now have healthy, glowing skin.

Here’s a guide on how to cleanse your face for glowing skin.

Step 1: The first step is to remove your makeup or sunscreen using the double cleanse method. The double cleanse method is essentially a skincare technique that involves using two cleansers, one being oil – based and the second being water based.
I suggest a makeup removing oil or similar – avoid using pure coconut oil or any other oils that are not specifically makeup removers to remove your makeup or sunscreen. These oils are not formulated to break down makeup particles and will further clog your pores.
Invest in a high-quality makeup remover such as The Body Shop Chamomile Oil Makeup Remover.
Take at least two minutes to massage the makeup remover into your skin and eye area follow by wetting your skin and wipe away with a makeup remover cloth which is designed to cling to makeup particles and ensure removal of makeup and impurities.

Step two: Apply a dime sized amount (10c coin) of facial cleanser to damp skin and give yourself at least two minutes to cleanse your face, neck and décolletage area.
Using your hands will suffice but add oomph to your cleanse by including a face wash tool such as a Foreo Luna or konjac sponge which does elevate the face wash process in my tried and tested opinion.

Step three: The third step of exfoliating your skin needs to only be done two to three times a week at night. If you have a skin condition such as Keratosis Pilaris, exfoliate regularly due to buildup on your skin – consider using a daily exfoliant during the day, that won’t be too harsh on your skin in addition to your weekly exfoliation.

Choosing the correct cleanser suited to your skin type is important to reap the benefits of proper face cleansing.
