Foundation Review: Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation

Do you want a foundation that can provide you a flawless look all day long? Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation might be the answer to your makeup dilemma. Here’s an Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation review that can help you decide whether this foundation could be your next makeup essential or not.

Packaging:

The foundation comes in a glass bottle with a frosted finish and a gold cap. The packaging looks sleek and luxurious and will definitely make you feel like you are using a high-quality product.

Texture:

The texture is relatively thick but not heavy. It glides on smoothly onto the skin and seamlessly blends. Once applied, the formula feels lightweight and comfortable for all day wear. 

Coverage:

The Double Wear Foundation has medium to full coverage that can effectively hide blemishes, imperfections, and uneven skin tones. It is perfect for those with oily skin because it provides a matte finish that will not make your skin look greasy throughout the day. However, it could be a little too heavy for those who want a natural-looking makeup.

Longevity:

One of the best things about the Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation is its remarkable staying power. It can last up to 15 hours without fading or oxidizing, making it the go-to foundation for long days, events and when travelling. 

Shade Range:

Estée Lauder offers extensive shades for this foundation, catering to different skin tones from fair to deep. Finding the perfect shade for your skin is not a problem, and you can use Estée Lauder’s Shade Finder tool to match your skin tone accurately. Currently Estée Lauder boasts over 55 shades of the Estée Lauder double wear foundation.

My shade match is 3W1 – Tawny. 

Application:

The best way to apply this foundation is by using a makeup sponge or a brush to avoid streaks or uneven application. It is essential to blend it well, especially around the hairline and jawline, to avoid a caked-on appearance.

Additional Notes:

It is fragrance-free, non-comedogenic and suits all skin types. 

This foundation currently retails for R785 which is on the pricey side, however Estée Lauder does deliver on this foundation from packaging to formula and it is worth the splurge in my opinion. I have personally repurchased this foundation over and over again and will continue to. It is my go – to foundation for special events or when my skin isn’t looking it’s best and I need makeup to camouflage that. I wouldn’t suggest this for everyday use as it is a thick formula and due to the price point – it will last a while if you use it only for special occasions. 

Should you not be too sure about purchasing a full-sized double wear foundation, there are miniatures of this foundation available and you can get quite a few uses out of it as a little goes a long way with this formula.
