Foundation Review: The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation

The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation boasts a natural skin – like texture with a formula that is 100% vegan and cruelty free. Here is my extensive review of this foundation.

Packaging:

The foundation is packed in a simple, elegant glass bottle with an applicator that makes it easy to control the amount of product you want to use.

Texture:

The texture of the Fresh Nude Foundation is lightweight and has a watery consistency. It blends effortlessly onto the skin and gives a natural-looking coverage that is not too heavy which would make this foundation an excellent option for everyday use however, the foundation did separate on my skin after a few hours of use. I also noticed that the product separated in the bottle and you need to give it a good shake before use.

Coverage:

This foundation provides light to medium coverage that can effectively even out skin tones and provide a natural and radiant finish. It doesn’t cover up blemishes or dark spots completely, but it does even out minor imperfections and gives your skin a natural glow. I absolutely love what this foundation looks like when initially applied and wish it could look that way all day.

Longevity:

One of the significant drawbacks of the Fresh Nude Foundation is its longevity. For me it lasted about four hours before I noticed fading, smudging and separating on my skin so this might not be the best option if you need a foundation that lasts through the day.

Shade Range:

The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation comes in 40 shades with three under tones, to cater to different skin tones from fair to deep. My perfect shade match is Medium 2W.

Application:

The foundation can be applied using a sponge or a brush, but it works best if you use your fingertips to blend it onto your skin. It doesn’t have a tacky or oily feel, making it easy to apply and blend.

Additional Notes:

The foundation is 100% vegan and cruelty-free, so it is a great option for those conscious about these aspects when purchasing makeup. However, for the price point at R390 – I would expect it to deliver all day wear as similar drugstore foundations within that price range and lower does.

This is not a foundation I will purchase again and rate it a 5/10 – it isn’t the worst foundation I’ve used. I will continue to use it until the product is finished when I only need to wear makeup for quick errands and a few hours.
